The striker announced on Monday that he feels his days with the Bavarians are over.

Bayern Munich chairman Oliver Kahn has slammed Robert Lewandowski for his recent transfer comments.

In a press conference on Monday for the Polish national team, Lewandowski told reporters he feels his career at Bayern has ended and added a transfer would be ‘ the best solution for everyone’ involved.

The 33-year-old’s contract in Munich expires in 2023, but he reportedly wants to join Barcelona this summer.

“I can’t tell you why Robert chose this path,” Kahn told SPORT1.

“Public statements like that don’t get you anywhere. Robert became world footballer of the year here twice in a row – I think he should know what he has at Bayern. Appreciation is not a one-way street.”

Will Lewandowski join Barcelona?

Reports have claimed the LaLiga giants have tabled an initial €32 million bid to Bayern Munich, although neither club has confirmed it.

It’s understood both Barcelona and Lewandowski are keen on linking up at Camp Nou. However, in an interview with L’Esportiu last week, Joan Laporta conceded it’s not that simple.

“He has a year left on his Bayern Munich contract and that is the situation. I can’t say more than that. We will let everyone get on with their work. He is a top-quality player, one that we like a lot as well, but he has a contract.”
