After weeks of prolonged speculation, Robert Lewandowski has confirmed his desire for a summer transfer.

Robert Lewandowski has publicly announced his intention to leave Bayern Munich this summer.

The 33-year-old Polish striker hopes the German club won’t force him to see out the remaining season of his contract, insisting his story at the Allianz Arena has ended.

Lewandowski’s comments come after Bayern chief executive Oliver Kahn stated that the 2021 Ballon d’Or runner-up had an obligation to fulfill the final year of his deal.

“My story with Bayern has come to an end, I cannot imagine further good cooperation,” Lewandowski said in a press conference for the Poland national team.

“I hope they will not stop me [from leaving] just because they can. A transfer is the best solution for everyone.”

According to various reports, Lewandowski is eyeing up Barcelona as his next club. Blaugrana president Joan Laporta has recently confirmed an interest, but accepted the attacker has a contract with Bayern.

The Poland captain has supplied 344 goals and 72 assists in 375 games since joining Bayern from Borussia Dortmund in 2014.

He has won 19 trophies with the Bavarians, including eight consecutive Bundesliga titles and the Champions League.
