The Bundesliga champions are one of several clubs linked with a move for CR7.

Bayern Munich should consider the ‘sexy’ signing of Cristiano Ronaldo, according to club legend Lothar Matthaus.

Various reports over the weekend claimed Ronaldo wants to leave Manchester United. While the player has remained silent so far, rumors have swirled for days over his future. Several clubs are linked to him, including Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

The latter, of course, could sell Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona this summer. If that transpires, Ronaldo could be a ready-made replacement for the Polish striker – even if only a temporary solution.

‘Ronaldo to Bayern would be sexy!’

Now Matthaus has backed the idea, stating CR7 would be able to supply around 30 goals and be a good investment.

“Ronaldo to Bayern would be sexy! At least you should think through the options and play through them once,” the 1990 Ballon d’Or winner told Sky Germany.

“If Bayern are of the opinion that Cristiano Ronaldo is still physically able to really help for a year or two and that they can invest the transfer fee generated for Robert Lewandowski more or less like-for-like in the Portuguese megastar, I would think about it.

“Of course, that would not be a transfer with a view to the future. He’s 37 and would always make headlines.

“I’m also not sure if he fits into Bayern Munich’s system. But he’s still an outstanding goal-scorer. He’s one of the best strikers of all time and would certainly score around 30 goals. Refinancing through jersey sales and the like would be guaranteed.”

Meanwhile, in Manchester, Ronaldo has missed training for the second day in a row after United granted him indefinite leave due to ‘family reasons’.
