Allianz Arena was the place where Bayern Munich got a visit from Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga. We got tonight’s player ratings.

Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich just offered us a wild ride that had all kinds of drama and excitement. The weekend in Europe looked very promising with crunch matches all over the continent that began in Germany today. Der Klassiker took place in Munchen between Bayern and Dortmund. But we all wanted to see how the duel between the two greatest strikers in Europe would pan out. Erling Haaland was after Robert Lewandowski’s throne today and he quickly made a statement.

Before the tenth minute of the match, the young gun scored an impressive brace that only taunted Lewandowski. The Polish striker responded with a brace of his own before the break in order to level things again. All would be decided in a second half that didn’t end well for one of both squads. Regardless of what happened after the break, we already enjoyed an incredible first half.

Haaland taps out early.

After the break, things became increasingly more difficult for Borussia Dortmund. Bayern Munich dominated for the majority of the game and the defensive pressure got the best of Erling Haaland. The kid had to step out of the game with a knock on his ankle that jeopardizes his chances to play the Champions League. After leaving the pitch, the young gun saw his team getting schooled by the Bavarians.

Leon Goretzka scored a late winner and Robert Lewandowski rounded his performance with a hat-trick. With this third goal tonight, the Polish striker stands as the world’s most prolific scorer with 31 goals. Also, he let Haaland know that he is still comfortable at the top as the best striker in the Bundesliga. Even though the kid’s skills are still impressive, he is still not as good as Robert. Better luck next time for this precocious Norwegian striker.
