Bayern Munich chief Oliver Kahn has given a hint on what the club’s next line of action could be with defender David Alaba.
Bayern Munich chief Oliver Kahn has hinted David Alaba could possibly leave the club by end of the season.
The Austrian is out of contract at Bayern at the end of the season and is yet to agree to a new deal with the reigning European champions.
Alaba has been linked with a move to Liverpool and Manchester City over the past few months.
However, more recent reports claim that United are also keen on the versatile 28-year-old.
It has been claimed that United bosses have spoken to Alaba’s representatives about him going to Old Trafford on a free transfer next summer.
The player is free to speak to other clubs from January 1, and Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has accepted the defender will leave.
Bayern legend and club chief Oliver Kahn has now spoken out about Alaba and gave a similarly gloomy verdict on the club’s chances of keeping him.
“At the moment I don’t know how that should happen,” he told Sport Bild.
“We rolled out the red carpet for David Alaba and went to our limits. David and especially his advisor Pini Zahavi have not walked that red carpet.
“It looks like he’s looking around. We have to accept that.”
Those comments from Kahn would put a host of European sides on red alert with Alaba still regarded as a top player in his position.
