Bartomeu confirms Messi, Ter Stegen and Fati's future

Josep Bartomeu cast a huge shadow over the future of many Barcelona players confirming there will be a mass clearout.

As Josep Maria Bartomeu announced the appointment of Ronald Koeman as the new manager was imminent he also took the time to address the future of the players.

To be more accurate, three of the players.

With talk that nearly all the team is up for sale, Bartomeu’s interview with the club’s official website all but confirmed that was the case.

The Barcelona president insisted that Messi was staying and Ter Stegen has agreed a new contract until 2025, as well as offers for Ansu Fati being rejected.

As for the rest, nothing!

He said:

“Messi wants to end his career at Barça. I regularly speak to him and his father. He’s part of our project. Koeman will be the new manager and he told me that Messi is a key player for our new project.”

“Ter Stegen will sign a new contract with us. He’ll stay here. He’s a fantastic goalkeeper.”

“We have offers for Ansu Fati, but he is not for sale.”

Bartomeu insists there will be departures.

He added:

“We are going to sell some players on this summer because it’s time for a pay cut and to start a new project for Barcelona.”
