The Barcelona boss is satisfied with his side’s performance as they clinched a crucial home win.

Barcelona defeated Atletico Madrid 4-2 in their La Liga game on Sunday. The Blaugrana fell behind to Yannick Carrasco’s early opener but quickly hit back to make it 3-1 before the break.

Dani Alves scored Barca’s fourth goal early in the second half, with Luis Suarez making it 4-2 minutes later. Alves received a straight red card in the 68th minute, but Atletico were not able to come back into the game.

In a post-match press conference, Xavi commented on his side’s performance.

“Before Alves was sent off, the game was perfect,” he’s said (via SportsMax),

We had to go back a bit [after the red], but the first 60 minutes represents the Barca that we all love.

“When we had 11 men, we were very good. We had worked with the 3-4-3 and the 3-5-2.

He added; “We showed solidarity after the expulsion, we defended the area well and we haven’t suffered too much.”

He added: “You have to be humble,

“It’s an important victory, against the champions. We fell behind and were then patient.

“I think we’ve played 60 very good minutes, but we have to continue.”

Barcelona leapfrogged Atletico to go fourth in La Liga. The Catalans are now two points behind third-place Real Betis with a game at hand. Xavi’s side will have a full week to prepare for their next league game against Espanyol.
