Barcelona will be taking subsequent action against former star Neymar after it appears there was a misunderstanding involving payment of cash.

Barcelona will sue Neymar a total of £9m after reports claim they overpaid the Brazilian during his first two years at the Nou Camp. It appears there was a tax miscalculation in the player’s contract.

Since his £198m transfer to PSG in 2017, the Brazilian has been engulfed in legal battles with Barca over recent years. The player claimed previously that the club owed him a total of £38m in unpaid bonuses.

Neymar was forced to pay the club £5.9m after losing the case and now Barca are making another attempt to reclaim even more money.

Barcelona are seeking to address the tax error over the player’s time at the club as detailed by Spanish outlet El Mundo.

The report states that after concluding the tax inspection covering the 2015 financial year, Barcelona have discovered that they paid Neymar excessively. They will now look to claim back the ‘extra’.

However, the Spanish Tax Agency has notified Barca that if the situation is not solved, the £9m would be seen as a ‘donation’ from the club to Neymar.

In a separate case, it was revealed earlier this year that Neymar owes £30.7m to the Spanish state in unpaid taxes and debt accumulation.

But the new case marks the latest dispute between Barcelona and Neymar after his four years at the club.

Such a scenario will surely see relationship between player and former club deteriorate and we can perhaps forget about the thought of a reunion between both parties.

Barcelona suffered heavy financial loss due to coronavirus and it’s no surprise they’re doing all they can to reclaim whatever cash they can.
