The Catalans are in danger of losing one of their key players next summer.

Barcelona are reportedly planning to offer a new contract to Ronald Araujo, who has emerged as a target for Bayern Munich.

The Bavarians signed Kim Min-jae from Napoli after Lucas Hernandez’s exit in the summer transfer window. However, it seems that Thomas Tuchel is still keen on adding another versatile defender to his Bayern ranks.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tuchel is a big fan of Araujo, considering him as one of the future’s top centre-backs. The Uruguayan star’s continuous development has made him a transfer target at Allianz Arena.

However, Barcelona are against allowing the 24-year-old’s exit. The Sky Sports journalist has claimed that Barca are already in the process of offering Araujo a new contract.

The defender’s current deal at Barcelona expires in 2026. Reports from the Spanish media claim the club are looking to sign a new three-year deal with Araujo in the near future.

Araujo’s versatility has made him an integral part of Barca’s backline in recent seasons. The Uruguay international, who can play both as a centre-back and a right-back, has made a total of 12 appearances for the Catalans so far this season.

Given their financial issues, Barca will most likely make a big-money sale in the summer. However, Araujo’s role in Xavi Hernandez’s squad makes his move to Bayern unlikely.
