Barcelona-linked Gundogan reveals key factor in transfer decision

The German midfielder is spending the final months of his current contract at Man City.

Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan has insisted he hasn’t made a decision over his future despite interest from Barcelona.

Reports about Gundogan’s possible move to Camp Nou have intensified in recent weeks as the experienced midfielder edges toward the expiration of his contract at Man City.

However, the German star says he is yet to make a final decision on his next move.

“My future is not yet decided. Sure, there are talks in the background. But I won’t go into details now,” Gundogan said on Thursday.

“I am happy at Manchester City and fighting to win titles. I am also very happy to be the captain of this team.”

Speaking before his side’s 1-1 draw with Bayern Munich, Gundogan hinted that his physical form could dictate his next transfer decision.

Asked whether Pep Guardiola’s interest in keeping him at Etihad could affect his move, Gundogan said: “Yes, that and my physical condition. I think that also plays a part.

“I appreciate [Guardiola’s comments] a lot. We have won a lot together and to hear things like that of course brings me joy and a smile.”

He added: “There are talks in the background.

“That’s quite normal with just a couple of months left but without going too much into detail, there is nothing decided yet from my side or the club’s side so the talks are continuing.”
