The Catalans are eager to add a new midfielder to their ranks this summer.
Barcelona are reportedly considering a summer move for Sofyan Amrabat amid interest from Bayern Munich.
Amrabat has developed into one of the best Serie A midfielders in recent seasons. But it was his fantastic displays during the World Cup that attracted interest from Europe’s elite sides.
The Fiorentina star helped Morocco reach the tournament’s semi-finals with his physical presence and aggressiveness in the midfield.
According to Foot Mercato, Barcelona have expressed their interest in signing Amrabat ahead of the next campaign. The French outlet claims Xavi has already spoken to the Moroccan star about his project for the next season.
Fiorentina will reportedly demand around €25-30 for Amrabat. However, the Italian giants could increase their demands if the competition for the 26-year-old’s signature turns into a bidding war.
A report from Sky Germany claims Amrabat was “actively offered” to Bayern. However, the club officials are reportedly doubtful regarding the midfielder’s qualities.
Bayern have added Konrad Laimer to their crowded midfield line this summer. However, the club are still in the market for a new midfielder, with Declan Rice being their other option for the position.
Romours about Joshua Kimmich’s possible move to Barcelona have also increased in recent weeks. But given the German international’s crucial role in Bayern’s squad, Barca will most likely have to consider other options ahead of the new season.
