According to a report, Barcelona have shifted their focus from Memphis Depay and will set their sight on a new transfer target.

Following the injury to Gerard Pique, Barcelona might have to alter their transfer plans to suit a more pressing need as it stands. The Catalan giants have made it no secret about their heated interest in Lyon star Memphis Depay. The player himself has welcomed the idea of a move to Nou Camp on numerous occasions now.

However, the recent setback suffered by Pique means Barca could immediately push stronger in pursuit of Manchester City defender Eric Garcia. Pique will be out of action for quite a while and now faces the prospect of missing action for a couple of months after a partial injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Given that the Spaniard could be out for some time, Barca could be forced to change their transfer plan in the coming transfer window.

This is according to Goal who claim Garcia is now the priority for Ronald Koeman over Memphis Depay.

Barca have been in pursuit of the Spaniard for some time now and only missed out on his signature due to both clubs failing to come to an agreement regarding a fee.

It may once again be the case and Barca might have to sell players to raise funds for a potential move.

City have already turned down a bid in the region of €18 million from Barca for Garcia in the summer. No doubt, City will be looking to get a better offer.

Garcia is only on contract at City until the end of the season but Barca are desperate and want to move for him in the January window.
