Gareth Bale’s agent has rubbished claims his client is planning to retire from football after Euro 2020 and become a professional golfer.

The rumors claiming Gareth Bale could retire from football soon are extremely false, claims his agent.

The Wales captain, who has one year left on his lucrative Real Madrid contract, has enjoyed a productive season on loan at Tottenham.

Bale netted 11 goals in 20 Premier League games to remind everyone of his quality at the age of 31, but reports claim he is now ready to hang up his boots.

Spanish outlet ABC say Bale is preparing to quit football when Wales’ Euro 2020 campaign comes to an end this summer, and instead forge a professional career in the other sport he famously loves – golf.

However, Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, poured cold water on those rumours in a brief statement to talkSPORT on Wednesday morning.

He said: “Sorry, I don’t speak about rubbish reporting.”

After scoring a brace in Tottenham’s final-day win over Leicester on Sunday, Bale admitted it would cause ‘chaos’ if he revealed what he was doing next season.

He said: “I know what I’m doing but it will just cause chaos if I say anything.

“I am not thinking about anything, all I’m concentrating on now is obviously finishing this season off strong.

“We meet up straight away for the Euros and I’m not thinking about anything else other than Wales.”
