The Welshman missed his side’s last two games, and it seems he’s set for an extended spell on the sidelines once again.

Carlo Ancelotti was unable to put a time frame on Gareth Bale’s recovery after admitting the player has sustained “a significant injury.”

Fitness has been a constant cause of concern throughout his Real Madrid career for Bale, who suffered his 24th setback since joining the club back in 2013 after picking up a muscle problem in his right leg during a training session last week.

The 32-year-old winger, as a result, missed Los Blancos’ La Liga meeting with Celta Vigo as well as the Champions League campaign opener against Inter Milan.

Reports in Spain have surfaced claiming he could remain on the sidelines for up to two months, meaning the former Tottenham man could be unavailable for a dozen matches including the first El Clasico of the season scheduled for October 24.

“We still don’t know how long he’ll be out,” Ancelotti told of Bale in his pre-match press conference ahead of the trip to Valencia, (via Marca).

“It’s quite a significant injury, but it’s tough to give a return date. It’s a shame. He had been playing well.”
