Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has broken his silence after reports that he contacted covid-19 while on international duty.

Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has posted a message to supporters following news that he had tested positive for COVID-19.

The 26-year-old unfortunately caught coronavirus while representing Ivory Coast during the latest international break. So far, he is yet to return to Manchester.

Bailly is a popular figure among the United supporters and the centre-back has received lots of messages on social media since the news broke at the weekend.

The centre-back has now confirmed that he has indeed tested positive for covid-19.

Looking straight into the camera, Eric posted on his Instagram Story: “Hi guys. Thanks for all of your messages. Just to say, I am good, I am fine, everything is good. It is just time to rest and come back stronger.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer addressed the situation on Sunday night, after Bailly was left out of the squad that went on to beat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 at Old Trafford.

“Unfortunately, he won’t be with us for a little while,” the manager told reporters.

“He’s been away with Ivory Coast and he tested positive with COVID and he’s not back in the country yet.”
