Borussia Park was the place where Bayern Munich played a high profile Bundesliga match against M’Gladbach. We got player ratings.
Bayern Munich had a high profile match to play against Borussia M’Gladbach at Borussia Park this Friday. Although they are currently top of the Bundesliga, the Bavarian giants knew they could lose this match against the locals. Gladbach have been playing at a high level over the last few weeks and they had a good chance to win today. Bayern did start off by scoring the initial goal through Robert Lewandowski.
Neuhaus committed a dumb penalty early in the game after using his hand to stop a pass from Bayern inside the box. VAR had to intervene in order to make the call. Soon after that, Leon Goretzka scored an impressive screamer after he recovered a ball in midfield to give Bayern the 0-2 lead. It seemed like Monchengladbach was about to get spanked but they managed to recover quickly.
Hofmann, Stindl, and Neuhaus FTW.
In a matter of minutes, Lars Stindl managed to set Hofmann up for a double right before halftime that placed Gladbach back in the game. But the second half was about to give us a surprising end to this incredible match. The man who committed the penalty in the first place was the one who scored the winner. Florian Neuhaus got redeemed after getting an assist from Hofmann early in the second half.
Despite Bayern Munich’s dominance and many efforts, they weren’t able to prevent a defeat. This result gives RB Leipzig a chance to take the top of the Bundesliga on Saturday. But getting there won’t be easy as they have to face Borussia Dortmund in Leipzig. The Bundesliga just got a lot more exciting.
