Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reportedly signed a three-year contract extension with the club.

Aubameyang is poised to sign a new deal that will see him become the highest paid player at Arsenal.

The Gabon international enters the final year of his current contract and there were fears he could leave the club this summer.

The likes of Barcelona, Inter Milan and Manchester United have been linked with Aubameyang over the past few months.

Head coach Mikel Arteta has always been confident about the player’s extension. It appears all of that is set to come to an end.

As per David Ornstein in his The Athletic column, Aubameyang is on the brink of agreeing a new-three year deal with the Gunners.

The deal will see him earn above £350,000-a-week, surpassing Mesut Ozil as the club’s top earner.

The 31-year-old forward will now be tied with the North London side until the summer of 2023.

Aubmeyang has proven his worth for Arsenal since his arrival in 2018.

His goals in the semi-final and final of the FA Cup proved vital in the club’s triumph last season. He also scored for the Gunners in their Community Shield clash against Liverpool.

Since joining Arsenal, Aubameyang has scored 71 times in 110 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions. The most by any Premier League player since 2018.
