After PSG sacked Thomas Tuchel, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had to come out in his defense after getting criticism for his recent work.
People often forget Thomas Tuchel was the manager who helped Pierre-Emerick Aubamyang become the star that he is today. When he first arrived at Borussia Dortmund, the German manager guided him to stardom. There were seasons in which the Gabon international delivered impressive numbers that could even be compared to the best players at the time.
With this level of performance, Arsenal decided to go after the striker. Thomas Tuchel’s decision to use him free on the attack is what attracted the Gunners to sign him in the first place. Together at Dortmund, they won the 2016-17 Pokal with Aubameyang having a starring role in the competition. It’s safe to say Pierre keeps fond memories of his time under Tuchel.
Aubameyang lauds Tuchel in difficult times.
Getting sacked by PSG is arguably one of the hardest moments Thomas Tuchel had to endure, especially because the decision came out of nowhere. This is a manager who took the French squad to their first UEFA Champions League final. In Aubameyang’s view, the German coach deserves a little more respect for what he’s accomplished.
Talking to The Mirror, Aubameyang said: “He’s one of the best coaches that I’ve had. I can’t deny his talent. He’s someone a bit crazy, a little like me. You could say that his style is a bit like that of Guardiola. In any case, they play with the same spirit. He likes to keep the ball with a style of play that likes to see the ball move forward, no matter what happens. I think he’s got the stuff. Now, it’ll be up to him to prove it.”
