In what comes as shock news, PSG have decided to part ways with manager Thomas Tuchel just before Christmas.

Thomas Tuchel has been sacked by Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports in Germany.

The German was relieved of his duties just hours after overseeing PSG’s 4-0 win over Racing Strasbourg on Wednesday.

According to Bild, PSG’s sporting director Leonardo sacked the 47-year-old after the emphatic win at the Parc des Princes.

The German manager guided PSG to the club’s first-ever Champions League final last season, where they lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich.

Tuchel found himself embroiled in a media frenzy ahead of the match. In an interview with SPORT1, he opened up on the demands of managing PSG.

In the interview, the German was quoted as saying he felt more like “a sports politician or sports minister than a coach” during his first season at the club. He was also quoted as saying it is difficult to keep players such as Neymar and Kylian Mbappe happy.

But after the win over Strasbourg, Tuchel insisted he had been mistranslated. “It is possible they translated incorrectly,” he said.

It remains certain if that was the reason PSG pulled the plug on him but reports are hinting at that as the reason behind the shock sacking.

Tuchel was appointed PSG manager in 2018 and won two Ligue 1 titles, including a domestic quadruple in his second season at the club.

Reports are now hinting that Mauricio Pochettino is the favorite to come in as the new PSG boss.
