Los Rojiblancos have left the other two contenders far behind in the title race, having established a massive 10-point lead atop the table.

Jab Oblak does not view Atletico Madrid as the favorites to lift the La Liga title this season.

Consistency has been the name of the game for Atletico lately, with the team losing just once and picking up 50 from the possible 57 points from their first 19 league fixtures.

They are leading the title race at the halfway stage of the season – and quite comfortably so, with a 10-point gap over second-placed Real Madrid despite having played a match fewer than their local rivals.

Many optimistic fans are backing Diego Simeone’s men to maintain their form all the way to the end and pick up their first league title since 2013.

With Real Madrid and FC Barcelona largely inconsistent, Atleti claiming the 2020-21 Spanish crow does not seem far-fetched, but their goalkeeper is refusing to make any claims early on.

“At the moment we are fine. We started the season strongly,” Oblak said on Cadena SER’s El Larguero program, via AS.

“We are not favourites, just candidates. We have to continue this way, but we still have a long way to go until the end. Let’s hope we can carry on getting results so that we will be in with a chance of winning the league at the end.”
