Atalanta and Napoli faced each other at the Gewiss Stadium in the second leg of Coppa Italia’s semi-final. We have the player ratings.
This Wednesday’s clash between the two Italian sides was completely different from the goalless tie we witnessed just a week ago. The second leg of Coppa Italia’s semi-final featured a dominant Atalanta and a Napoli that struggled to cause trouble for Gollini. Nevertheless, the Italian goalkeeper stopped a few dangerous shots and Atalanta should thank him for his efforts.
The match began in terrific style as Duvan Zapata scored an incredible rocket that came out-of-nowhere. The Colombian forward was La Dea’s man-of-the-match and this goal gives more than enough evidence.
It didn’t take long for Atalanta to increase their lead, courtesy of one of tonight’s best performers. Gosens found Zapata in the box who quickly flicked the ball to Pessina. The 23-year-old midfielder blasted the ball into the net, giving Ospina no chance of saving the strike.
Gattuso’s side were eager to change the course of the match.
In the second half, a slightly different Napoli went out into the pitch determined to overturn Atalanta’s lead. In fact, it wasn’t long before the Gli Azzurri were able to put the ball in the net and give fans hope of a different outcome. Lozano’s persistence was rewarded as the player managed to put a deflected ball past Gollini.
However, Atalanta were still in charge of the game and never looked shaken up by Napoli’s advances. Therefore, they naturally increased their lead around the 77th-minute mark. Zapata and Pessina were clearly in-sync this Wednesday as they starred in another goal for La Dea. The Colombian forward used his body to push one of Napoli’s defenders away from the ball. Moreover, Zapata put a slight touch on the ball left Pessina to seal the deal for Atalanta.
The Bergamo-based club will now face Juventus in the Coppa Italia final on what will surely be a lively and interesting clash. In fact, we eagerly await Ronaldo’s clash against a high-performing Gollini.
