Coutinho makes a perfect start at Villa!
Man United came into the game on the back of all their dressing room drama of the recent weeks. They started the game with great intensity and got an early opener through Bruno Fernandes in the sixth minute.
Ralf Rangnick’s side kept the pressure high in midfield while limiting Villa’s spaces through pressing. After a convincing first-half performance, Fernandes doubled United’s lead by completing his brace in the 67th minute. Following an assist from Fred, the Portuguese star rifled a strike into the roof of the net.
Villa started their efforts to get back into the game as soon as they conceded the second goal. Steven Gerrard’s side finally managed to get one back in the 77th minute. A stunning strike from Jacob Ramsey made it 2-1 as Villa started to show more confidence.
The hosts pushed hard to score the equalizer after their first goal. Philippe Coutinho, who came off the bench in the 68th minute, scored only 15 minutes into his debut. Ramsey completed his fine performance by passing a precise cutback to Coutinho. The Brazilian took a touch before smashing the ball past David De Gea to secure a point for his side.
United slipped to seventh place on the table after failing to win their last two games. On the other hand, Villa managed to avoid losing for the third time in a row. Ralf Rangnick’s side will face Brentford in their next game while Villa will meet Everton.
