Ahead of the January transfer window, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has revealed the club’s plans in the transfer market.

Mikel Arteta has admitted the Gunners could be active in the upcoming transfer window as a number of changes to the squad are needed.

Arsenal will finish 2020 in 13th place in Premier League and an air of disappointment has clouded their first half of the campaign.

Two successive victories from their last two outings have helped ease the pressure on Mikel Arteta who saw his side go seven Premier League games without a win.

A recurring theme in most of their games has been apparent struggles to create chances and it is believed they could visit the transfer market to sort that out.

Going by Mikel Arteta’s comments, the Gunners are indeed on the lookout for some sort of activity in the coming window.

Of late, Sead Kolasinac has been linked with a return to Schalke and the Gunners boss gave his verdict on that move happening.

Arteta said as per the club’s website: “I cannot confirm anything yet. We are working on a couple of things and obviously, the window is going to bring a lot of news. Some are true, some are not.”

“Whenever we have something to say, we will announce it.”

“We’ve had some conversations around a few players and whether we can find some loans because the numbers we have in the squad at the moment are really big. Again, we cannot confirm anything yet.”

Arteta then spoke on the possibility of outgoings and incomings in general.

“Well, we have a large squad, we knew that and a lot of things we wanted to do in the summer, we couldn’t accomplish for different reasons.”

“There are some players that are going to go on loan, they are going to leave, and that’s the priority at the moment. We cannot sustain the numbers that we have in terms of substitutions.”

“We are looking to do that and then we will see if we have the right opportunities in the positions that we need some more help. We are working with the club to find that.”

Arsenal have already been linked with Isco on loan as well as sending out William Saliba on loan as well. It hints that the Gunners might look out for loan deals this coming January and Mikel Arteta also spoke on that.

“We need to be careful with that (stifling the development of a youngster), but obviously financially, it’s only us, it’s every club in the Premier League who has been hit with big numbers,” he continued.

“We know that this is not going to change from the last year or so and we are going to have to add some of how we want to improve the team in different ways financially.”

“We will decide whether it’s a loan or buying players in relation to the opportunity that we have in the market.”
