Partey has admitted Arsenal fans haven’t seen the best of him, but Arteta is confident it’s only a matter of time before they do.

Thomas Partey simply needs more game time to get back to his best, says Mikel Arteta, as it will allow him to return to full fitness and gain better chemistry with his Arsenal teammates.

Muscle, thigh, and hamstring injuries have limited Partey to just 17 appearances in all competitions since he joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in October.

These setbacks have naturally interrupted the 27-year-old’s rhythm and made it harder for him to adapt to his new surroundings.

Partey recently acknowledged he hasn’t been able to show his best form for Arsenal yet, but Arteta has full confidence in the midfielder.

“Rhythm-wise he has struggled a little in the last few weeks because he hasn’t had enough training sessions or enough preparation because the league is so demanding,” said the Gunners boss as quoted on Sky Sports.

“But you can see his quality, you can see the presence and the special qualities he provides to the team when he is on the pitch.

“I think it is just a fact of playing more games, getting some chemistry and understanding with his teammates and getting as fit as he possibly can.”

Partey will hope to prove Arteta right in the north London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham on Sunday evening.
