Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has given an update on Bukayo Saka and Willian who picked up injuries in the Gunners’ stalemate against Leeds.

Bukayo Saka and Willian were unable to complete the game for Arsenal against Leeds as they played out to a 0-0 draw at Elland Road.

Nicolas Pepe ruined the Gunners’ game plan in the second half after getting a needless red card for his confrontation with Alioski.

Bukayo Saka came close to breaking the deadlock in the latter stages of the game but saw his effort brilliantly stopped by Leeds goalie Illan Meslier.

However, the youngster was forced off after a challenge in which an opponent’s stud appeared to connect with his knee.

He has been a spark in the Gunners’ lineup and an injury for the youngster will be a blow for the North London side.

Elsewhere, Willian was also substituted at half-time after the player apparently felt some pain in his thigh.

As per the Arsenal website, Mikel Arteta has given an update on the injuries suffered by Bukayo Saka and Willian.

“He was in pain,” the Arsenal boss said on Saka.

“We’re going to have to assess with the medical staff how bad it is, but it looked like a pretty bad challenge and he was in pain so we decided to take him out straight away.”

Earlier, Willian was replaced by Reiss Nelson at half-time. That was not a tactical decision by Arteta.

“He was feeling something muscular and we had to take him off,” he added.

Arsenal will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they welcome Wolves to the Emirates on Sunday.
