Fitness issues have largely limited the Ghanaian playing time at the Emirates, and it appears he just cannot catch a break.

Thomas Partey will remain unavailable for the ‘next few matches’ for Arsenal, Mikel Arteta has confirmed.

The former Atletico Madrid midfielder’s short time in London has been plagued with injuries so far, having already missed almost a month of action due to a thigh problem.

He was able to recover in time for the north London derby last weekend only to break down near the end of the first half of the 2-0 defeat.

Ahead of Arsenal’s final Europa League group stage game against Dundalk, Areta confirmed that his summer deadline day addition is set for another spell on the sidelines.

“He got injured in the same area, but not in exactly the same spot as before,” the Gunners boss informed, as per Sky Sports.

“He had an MRI yesterday, there is an injury there, he will miss the next few matches.”

It is speculated Partey’s most recent injury is a result of him being rushed back ahead of schedule into the starting XI for the Tottenham game.

“No, he did incredibly well, he was confident. We tested him three times and he had no symptoms,” asserted Arteta, denying those speculations.

“But in football, you have a lot of unpredictable actions. He went into the floor, his knee got stuck, after, he needs to stretch and get up. Immediately he put a lot of stress in a similar area and he felt it again.”
