Premier League postpones its 15th game this month as Arsenal recieve timely boost ahead of Man City clash.

Wolves sent an official request to the Premier League to postpone their upcoming game against Arsenal. The officials have accepted the request due to excessive COVID-19 cases and injuries in Wolves’ squad.

A Premier League statement read: “Arsenal FC’s match against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium, due to be played at 12:30pm on Tuesday December 28, has regrettably been postponed.

“The Premier League Board accepted the postponement application as Wolverhampton Wanderers does not have the required number of players available for the match (13 outfield players and one goalkeeper) as a result of a number of COVID-19 cases and injuries at the club.

“The Board was able to make its decision in advance of the fixture to give clarity to the affected clubs and their fans. We apologise for the inconvenience and disruption caused to supporters’ festive plans.”

Earlier this week, Premier League postponed Wolves’ Boxing Day game against Watford. In addition to a Covid outbreak, Wolves have also suffered several injuries in their squad. Hwang Hee-chan, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Willy Boly, Pedro Net, Jonny Castro Otto and Yerson Mosquera are all out of action.

On the other hand, Arsenal can get more rest for their crunch game against Manchester City on January 1. The Gunners crushed Norwich City with a 5-0 result on Sunday as they continued their great form.

Following the City game, Arsenal will meet Liverpool in the Carabao Cup’s semi-finals five days later.
