The Gunners will hold an investigation after video footage emerged implicating a star player in a COVID-19 protocol breach.
Arsenal have announced plans to speak with captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang over a potential breach of the club’s COVID-19 protocols before deciding on any course of action.
The 31-year-old, who scored a hat-trick in the 4-2 win over Leeds United on Sunday, has allegedly broken strict lockdown rules.
Video footage on Spanish tattoo artist Alejandro Nicolas Bernal’s Instagram account shows Aubameyang getting a new tattoo on camera. Neither of the men wore a mask during the inking and were in close proximity.
According to the UK Government regulations, mobile and static tattoo parlors must be closed. All non-essential retail and hospitality businesses have had to shut their doors during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom.
“We will speak to the player about this matter and establish what has taken place,” read a brief statement from Arsenal.
The video on Bernal’s Instagram was uploaded on February 10, but it’s unknown when the footage itself was recorded.
Arsenal, therefore, intend to determine when exactly Aubameyang got the tattoo to determine if he broke the club’s lockdown rules and breached their own strict bio-secure bubble.
