Arsenal will take on Liverpool in the EFL Cup semifinal first leg on Thursday without two of their key central players.
According to reports from GOAL, Arsenal will have to play against Liverpool in the EFL Cup semifinal without Martin Odegaard and Emile Smith Rowe.
Both playmakers will be absent when the Gunners take on the Reds at Anfield on Thursday night.
It is said that the Norway and England international midfielders are not in the plans of head coach Mikel Arteta.
Odegaard was not able to report for training on Thursday at London Colney, and thus was not part of the travelling squad.
Smith Rowe did not play Sunday’s FA Cup game against Nottingham Forest due to a groin problem. And has not yet achieved full recovery before their trip to Liverpool.
Indeed, this will be an upset for the club that are looking to lift a major silverware and are inches closer to it.
Meanwhile, Granit Xhaka has been indicated to be in contention of playing the important game tonight. However, Arsenal will witness the lack of stars such as Odegaard and Smith Rowe.
Along with them, they are already without Thomas Partey, Mohamed Elneny, and Nicolas Pepe due to their AFCON involvement.
