After securing deals for Marquinhos and Matt Turner, Arsenal have now added Fabio Vieira to their ranks.

Portuguese champions FC Porto have confirmed the sale of midfielder Fabio Vieira to Arsenal.

In a statement on Friday morning, Porto announced a €40 million deal with Arsenal. The Premier League side will pay €35 million upfront and an additional €5 million in add-ons.

According to Portuguese journalist Pedro Sepulveda, the add-ons depend on the number of appearances Vieira makes and whether the club qualifies for the Champions League. The player will earn €130,000 per month net as part of a five-year contract.

Vieira cut short his holiday on the Greek island of Mykonos to travel to north London on Thursday for a medical and to complete the formalities for his transfer.

The 22-year-old, who can play as a No.8 and a No.10, becomes Arsenal’s third signing of the summer after Brazilian winger Marquinhos and American goalkeeper Matt Turner.

Who else is on the Gunners’ shortlist?

Despite the signing of Vieira, Arsenal are still expected to pursue Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans.

The Gunners have been tracking the Belgium international since January. The player is reportedly open to leaving Leicester this summer.

Mikel Arteta also hopes to sign Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus. The manager worked with the Brazilian during his spell as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at the Etihad.

Manchester City are allegedly holding out for a transfer fee in the region of £50 million (€58m) for Jesus.
