The COVID-19 cases keep piling up in football, with Matteo Guendouzi becoming the latest player to get infected by the virus.
Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, who is currently away on loan at Hertha Berlin, has taken into a 10-day period of self-isolation after testing positive for COVID-19.
The Frenchman underwent medical checkups upon returning to Germany from international duty. It was then established that he has contracted the widespread disease.
The 21-year old is reported to be asymptomatic, meaning he is not experiencing any ill-effects due to the virus and is feeling normal.
Hertha Berlin confirmed the news on Thursday in a report on their official website, with the club also revealing that Guendouzi returned two positive tests on Tuesday morning and Wednesday evening.
Guendouzi will now be forced to sit out Hertha’s home game against Stuttgart in Bundesliga on Saturday as well as the trip to RB Leipzig a week thereafter.
This means he will now have to wait until November to make his full debut for the German side, having joined them on a season-long deal from Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
