The Gunners have extended the stay of one of their key players ahead of the January transfer window.

Gabriel Magalhaes has signed a new long-term contract at Arsenal.

The Gunners signed Gabriel from Lille in 2020, with the Brazilian quickly becoming a key member of their squad.

Having made 83 appearances for Arsenal across all competitions, Gabriel has formed a solid centre-back duo with William Saliba.

As Arsenal see their long-running rebuild process come to fruition this season, they intend to keep the cornerstones of their current squad at Emirates.

“Gabi has shown huge qualities since he joined us,” Mikel Arteta told Arsenal’s official website.

“He is a young player with a great work ethic and his consistent strong performances have been hugely important to us over the past two seasons.

“Working with Gabi every day is a pleasure, he has formed strong relationships with everyone at the club and we’re so pleased that he has committed to us on a long-term contract.”

Gabriel signed a contract until 2025 upon joining the Gunners two years ago. Arsenal haven’t disclosed the exact duration of Gabriel’s new contract.

Technical director, Edu, added: “It’s great that we’ve agreed a new deal with Gabi.

“At 24, he’s still a young player and is part of our future. His performances since he joined us in 2020 have been very strong and his positive impact to our results have been clear for everyone to see.”
