Arsenal have reportedly joined Manchester United in being some of the sides interested in Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele.

Arsenal are interested in signing Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele, according to reports.

The Frenchman is out of contract at Barcelona in 2022 and was heavily linked with a move away from the Nou Camp this summer. Manchester United was keen on signing the 23-year-old as an alternative to Jadon Sancho.

However, Dembele refused to leave Barca even on a loan deal, as he keeps his future options open.

Barca wants to extend the 23-year-old’s contract to protect his value and get as much as they can for him when they do eventually sell.

But Dembele is not interested in discussing a new deal with the La Liga club.

Ansu Fati’s knee injury, which is set to keep him out for four months, could give the forward more game-time under Ronald Koeman.

That would mean a January exit is unlikely for the former Borussia Dortmund star.

But Spanish outlet Sport say there is still interest in Dembele from United, as well as Arsenal.

The report claims the Frenchman may see out his Barca contract and leave for free in 18 months’ time, or Barca could accept a smaller fee next summer.

United’s continued interest is not a surprise after they failed to pay what Dortmund wanted for Sancho in the summer.

The interest from Arsenal is rather surprising but not entirely far-fetched in a way.

Last summer, there were reports making the rounds that Gunners captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wanted Dembele at Arsenal.

The pair were very close friends during their time at Dortmund and who knows if that could be an extra motivation for any potential deal.
