The Gunners splashed upwards of €150m to bolster their squad only this summer, but their recruitment project might not be wrapped up just yet.

Mikel Arteta admits Arsenal “have talks every week about how they can improve the team”, implying there could be new additions to his squad in January.

Arenal were one of the biggest spenders in the previous transfer window, signing Martin Odegaard, Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Nuno Tavares, and Albert Sambi Lokonga.

However, the situation in the Emirates is not undisturbed as one would have expected following their commitment to squad overhaul. A number of players are approaching the end of their contracts while the futures of several others hang in the balance.

“We are in discussions. We have talks every week about it, how we can improve the team, and what things can happen in the January transfer window that can affect our squad,” Arteta told reporters (via The Mirror).

“As you know, we have certain players with a little bit of uncertainty in the summer so we have to plan what’s going to happen now and what’s going to happen in the summer.

“A lot has to be done, we know and we don’t expect big things to be happening, but we need to be very alert in the market to see if we can improve the team.

“We have to be prepared because things can happen and injuries can arise in this period of the season and you have to be prepared and planned.”
