Reports coming from France claim that Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar has tested positive for coronavirus.

Houssem Aouar has reportedly tested positive for coronavirus and will have to self-isolate.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a stellar season with Lyon last term that saw him steal the hearts of many.

No surprise a number of top sides are battling it out for him at the moment.

After his brilliant performances, Aouar earned a deserved call-up to the France national side. Sadly, he might have to withdraw from the squad after the latest turn of events.

French outlet L’Équipe claim that the midfielder initially tested negative on Tuesday.

But after showing symptoms the next day, he was tested for a second time with the result coming out positive today.

On a personal level, it is a blow for Aouar. This is the second time he’ll have to withdraw from the France national team. He had to decline his first call-up due to injury at the time.

Fellow Lyon players in the French national team could be asked to undergo further tests as well. Melvin Bard, Jeff Reine-Adélaïde and Maxence Caqueret all fall into this category.

Aouar will now be required to self-isolate for a period of 14 days as per the guidelines. He is now set to miss Les Bleus’ fixtures against Croatia and Sweden in early September.
