Houssem Aouar has played down the speculations regarding a move away from Lyon suggesting that he is still uncertain about his future.

Houssem Aouar was central to Olympique Lyon’s deep run into the Champions League knockout stages in 2019/20.

Aouar caught the eyes of the world as helped his side achieve a remarkable feat of knocking Manchester City out of the competitions with a 3-1 defeat in the quarter-finals.

The Ligue 1 side performed beyond expectations in Europe’s premier club competition but endured a disastrous domestic campaign as they finished seventh in the league.

No European football in 2020/21 could be a reason enough for their prized assets to search for greener pastures, something that the club’s sporting director Juninho also confirmed earlier.

Aouar is undoubtedly one of Lyon’s most valuable players and he has been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City.

“I haven’t left yet. So I haven’t asked this question,” he replied when quizzed on L’Equipe if he could quit the club without saying goodbye to the fans.

The 22-year old midfielder recently earned his first call-up to the senior France squad. Asked whether moving clubs a year before the European Championship could effect his place in the national team, he again gave the same relpy: “I haven’t left yet!”

Finally, he was asked about his own intentions. With a smile on his face, he said: “That one is very tough. I want us to start the league well. And that we beat Dijon, to start with.”
