Houssem Aouar feels he still has a lot to give to his childhood club as he opens up on his decision to continue his ‘adventure’ at Lyon.
A string of noteworthy displays in Olympique Lyon’s deep run into last season’s Champions League saw Houssem Aouar become a target for a number of European heavyweights.
The likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, and Arsenal have been linked with the signing of the talented midfielder.
Arsenal looked the frontrunners to land him all summer; however, now their pursuit appears to be completely off.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas earlier set a deadline of October 2 for the departure of their players, and the Gunners failed to match the 22-year old Frenchman’s valuation by the club by then.
Aouar yet again shone for his side as he helped Lyon earn a point in the Ligue 1 stalemate against Marseille which won him the Man of the Match award.
“[Why did I make] my choice to stay in Lyon?” he told after Sunday’s match, speaking to Telefoot La Chaine. “I felt that I could still bring something to this team and to this club.
“That’s why I have made the choice to continue my adventure with Lyon. I hope we will get up and find our form again quickly.”
