Barcelona presidential candidate Jordi Farre has made another huge claim on why Lionel Messi could remain at the club come next summer.

Barcelona presidential candidate Jordi Farre has claimed Lionel Messi still has his heart at Barcelona. In fact, Farre says the Argentine would stay in the event that he wins the elections.

The 33-year-old’s contract expires next summer and uncertainty remains as to what his next move could possibly be.

Messi can start negotiating with interested parties come January and Manchester City are among the clubs in the running for his signature. Of recent, PSG have been linked with the six-time Ballon d’Or winner especially after the comments from Neymar.

Despite what all the reports are saying, Farre is convinced La Pulga wants to remain at the Camp Nou.

He told Onda Cero: “Messi wants to stay at Barca. That’s what I know. His family wants to stay at Barcelona and we’re going to work for it.

“I would go as far to say that if we win the elections, Messi will renew his deal. His renewal would be incurred automatically on January 25 if I win the elections the day previous.”

Surely, these comments would not go down well with Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman.

The Dutch manager recently lashed out at club presidential candidates for constant comments about Lionel Messi and his future at or away from the club.

Farre has once again spoken on that topic and Koeman will no doubt send in another reply sooner or later.
