Wayne Rooney was left ‘angry and disappointed’ after being forced into self-isolation despite testing negative for COVID-19.
Josh Bardsley, an entrepreneur and brother to former Manchester United defender Phil, visited Rooney at his home last Thursday to deliver a luxury watch.
Little did the striker know, however, that Josh had taken a test for coronavirus. He hadn’t received the results and was supposed to be in self-isolation at the time he came into contact with Rooney. The results later returned positive.
Phillip Cocu talking to the media now. Just spoke to him for RamsTV. Safe to say he’s *pretty* annoyed about the situation with @WayneRooney, though there’s no blame attached to his captain. Quite incredible what PC has had to deal with as Derby boss.

The 34-year-old, still unaware of Josh’s condition, proceeded to play the full 90 minutes of Derby County’s 1-0 defeat to Watford last Friday.
And despite returning a negative test for coronavirus himself, British health protocols state Rooney and anybody who has mingled with Josh must go into quarantine.
“Just received the news that my COVID-19 test has shown that I do not have the virus,” the former United and England captain posted on Twitter.
“Delight for myself and family but obviously angry and disappointed that I now have to self-isolate and miss vital games for Derby.”
