Angers took on Paris Saint-Germain at Stade Raymond Kopa this Saturday night for a Ligue 1 fixture.
Angers attempted to overturn a negative record as they hadn’t beat Paris Saint-Germain since 1975. However, 20 games later, they failed their task once again.
It wasn’t a particularly lively game, although it started on a good note. In fact, the best moment of the first half came in the first 90 seconds. Angers took PSG by surprise and forced Navas to stretch himself in order to block Capelle’s well-placed shot.
In the second half, history repeated itself. Although PSG had most of the ball possession, the most dangerous opportunities came from their opponents. Fulgini raised havoc in the champion’s defense and Capelle provided Dioni with an amazing cross. However, a very inspired Keylor Navas was there to save Pochettino from any more headaches.
Nevertheless, Paris Saint-Germain managed to secure the three points with a goal that basically came out of nowhere. Just a minute before scoring, Kurzawa had made a terrible attempt to run down the wing which summed up tonight’s performance. However, PSG’s left-back took advantage of a poorly deflected ball to put his club in the lead.
Paris Saint-Germain are now Ligue 1’s temporary leaders as Lyon will take on Metz this Sunday. On the other hand, Angers suffered their second defeat in-a-row but still have their top 10 spot more than secured.
