Liverpool star Andy Robertson gave a surprising response to a fan’s question about who his fastest teammates are.

The 26-year-old defender answered some of his fans’ questions on social media. Robertson was questioned about who would win in a 100-meter race at Liverpool. Although the most obvious answers included Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane, the player shocked fans by naming two of his fellow defenders.

“I am gonna go for Virgil Van Dijk. It would be between the two centre-halves Virgil and Joey [Gomez]. Don’t think the wingers have a chance. Hendo [Henderson] would love to put his name in the mix, so would Trent, nowhere near it. It’s a race between the two quick centre-halves,” said Robertson.

Some fans probably think Robertson is out of his mind, but the left back’s remarks are actually quite accurate. Two years ago, Eurosport revealed Liverpool’s top runners. It seems that Joe Gomez vs Virgil Van Dijk would make an interesting clash, as the central defenders occupy first and second position in the table.

As Liverpool’s top five fastest players include their full backline, managers should think twice before adopting a counter-attacking strategy against the Premier League Champions.

Robertson was also delighted to receive a question from one of his idols growing up, Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos. The defender asked Robertson to recreate one of his well-known free kicks in a game. Consequently, the Scottish player claimed he would pay a lot of money to have Roberto’s left foot.
