Los Blancos earned bragging rights over their bitter rivals on the weekend, leaving their manager quite self-assured.

Real Madrid “can compete with anyone,” asserted Carlo Ancelotti after Real Madrid emerged 2-1 victorious in their La Liga meeting with FC Barcelona.

El Clasico debutant David Alaba broke the deadlock while Lucas Vazquez got on the scoresheet late on as Real Madrid narrowly came out on top at Camp Nou on Sunday.

The victory marked Los Blancos’ fourth successive one in the historic fixture, although surprisingly it was their first one under the current manager, who led the club to four major honors in his first spell.

“I think we can compete with anyone,” an elated Ancelotti told at his post-match press conference (via Marca).

“The team is very solid and we have to be a little more efficient up front, but we have played against a great team and we have suffered. We are capable of suffering together.

“This team has a lot of quality and we have to enjoy it. This was not an easy game and winning makes us happy.”
