From one great of the game to another, the Real Madrid boss has penned an emotional message for the deceased Argentinian legend.

Wednesday marked a tragic day for football fans for footballing great Diego Maradona passed away on the day.

Maradona, considered by many as the greatest footballer of all time, suffered a cardiac arrest at the age of 60 at his home in Tigre, a town just north of Argentinian capital Buenos Aires.

The footballing world has since expressed grief over the demise of the 1986 World Cup winner, with Zinedine Zidane also paying his tribute recently.

Zidane told Movistar+: “It’s an enormous loss for the world of football. I have him engrained in my head because of what he did at the 1986 World Cup. I was 14 years old.

“In the end, at least I was lucky enough to have the chance to tell him in person about that 1986 World Cup because every kid always wants to say what they think, and I had the chance to tell him that he was a hell of a player.

“So that’s my best memory. This is sad news, we send our best wishes to his family. Rest in peace.”

Thousand of Argentinians took to the streets to mourn the death of the football icon as national mourning for three days was also announced in the country.
