The injury-hit Red Devils have suffered a fresh setback, with new signing Sofyan Amrabat out of action.
Manchester United secured the loan signing of Sofyan Amrabat on deadline day. Yet, it wasn’t all smooth sailing, as the club detected a minor back injury during the midfielder’s medical.
According to The Athletic, they decided the injury was not serious and completed the loan deal with Fiorentina, who will coup an €8 million fee.
But on Thursday, Amrabat pulled out of the Morocco squad. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation confirmed his withdrawal in a brief statement. He has been replaced on the national team by Yahya Jabrane.
At the time of writing, United have not commented on Amrabat’s injury.
Who else is injured for Man Utd?
This is the latest injury setback for United manager Erik ten Hag.
Raphael Varane, Tom Heaton, Lisandro Martinez, Mason Mount, Luke Shaw, and Tyrell Malacia are currently all out with injuries.
On the bright side, Rasmus Hojlund did shake off a back injury last weekend to make his debut. The €75 million signing from Atlanta came on as a second-half substitute in the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal. He is now with the Danish national team for the international break.
United will face Brighton on September 16 in their next Premier League match.
