The returning Juventus manager has set Weston McKennie a goal target for the 2021/22 season.
Massimiliano Allegri has challenged Weston McKennie to score 10 goals for Juventus in the upcoming campaign.
The 22-year-old midfielder scored the second goal of the game in Juventus’ 3-1 friendly win over Serie C side Cesena on Saturday.
McKennie assisted Koni De Winter’s opening goal before hitting the target himself past the half-hour mark with a superb solo effort, one which clearly left Allegri impressed.
“You’ve got to score 10 goals this season!” the Bianconeri boss was heard shouting to the American afterward.
McKennie managed six goals and three assists in 46 appearances across all competitions last season. He has joined the club in a permanent deal this summer from Schalke after impressing on loan.
Despite a heavily makeshift side, Juventus took just five minutes to take the lead on Saturday. De Winter, a rumored loan target for Club Brugge, broke the deadlock. McKennie then flicked the ball inside the box before firing it past two defenders and a goalkeeper for the bottom corner of the net.
Matias Soule’s deflected effort in the second-half restored Juventus’ two-goal lead after Cristian Shpendi pulled one back for Cesena.
