The USMNT star completes a permanent switch from Schalke after the Italian champions trigger the buy option on his contract.

Juventus confirm they have turned Weston McKennie’s loan move into a permanent transfer from Schalke.

McKennie has been nothing short of impressive in his short stay at the club so far, and has firmly established his place in Andrea Pirlo’s starting XI.

Operating from the middle of the park, the 22-year-old has made 31 appearances in all competitions for Juventus so far, scoring four goals and registering two assists.

Juve successfully negotiated a buy option in the midfielder’s loan deal, which they have now activated.

In a report released on the official club website, the Bianconeri confirmed that they have signed the USMNT star for €18.5 million, payable over 3 years. A further €6.5 million in add-ons would be paid to Schalke should various conditions be met over the duration of the contract.

A statement on the report read: “Wes has proven to be a very important resource for Coach Pirlo, having already put his signature on important performances and goals.

“It’s impossible not to think about his goal against Barcelona at the Camp Nou, or the one in the Derby della Mole – his first in the black and white jersey.

“It’s also important to note that he is also the youngest midfielder in this league with at least four goals, as well as the best American scorer in Serie A history.”

Mckennie has extended his contract with Juventus until 30 June 2025.
