During a recent interview he did on Juventus’ official website, Allegri made a surprising admission about rejecting Real Madrid.

There was a time when Massimiliano Allegri was a free agent and clubs such as Real Madrid were after his services. He even became the frontrunner to take Zinedine Zidane’s job when the Frenchman was getting the worst results at the club. But Allegri didn’t go to Real Madrid. At first, we thought Florentino Perez decided against this final decision but we were mistaken. Allegri himself just confirmed he had the luxury of rejecting Los Blancos when they approached him.

In his heart, coaching Juventus again was all that mattered. Max might not get another chance like that one in his lifetime. He knows he missed his opportunity and he has no regrets at all. Juventus is the exact place where he wants to be at the moment. During this interview, Allegri spoke about coaching Ronaldo and his new European Champions with the Italian National Team.

Allegri has no regrets with Real Madrid.

This is what Allegri told the Juventus website: “I turned down Real Madrid proposal to be the new manager, yes. I want to say thanks for the opportunity but I love Juventus. There are many great potentials, on which we will work every day. I chose Juventus, and for me it is a great responsibility. I am very grateful for the Club, which has given me the opportunity to return to coaching and to win. Cristiano is a great champion and an intelligent guy.

“Yesterday I spoke to him – as I did with everyone else – I told him that this is an important year and he has a greater responsibility, because the team is young. I spoke to him [Chiellini] a few days ago. I didn’t let him interrupt his holidays to come and sign a contract, after 20 years together, it’s not a problem. There are many youngsters here, they will be an added value and the future of the club. Then there are the more experienced, like Chiellini, Bonucci and Ronaldo, who will be examples for the youngsters.”
