The French shot-stopper has seemed unlike himself in the past couple of games, having been unable to keep out rather easy efforts.

Hugo Lloris remains “one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League”, according to Michel Vorm.

Lloris has been a reliable figure between the sticks for Tottenham for a long time, but calls have been made in recent times to replace him.

Currently in his ninth season at the club, the World Cup winner has looked unlike himself lately having been unable to keep out rather easy efforts in the last couple of matches.

He failed to keep Rodri’s penalty out despite getting a touch on the ball while he allowed Ilkay Gundogan to score with a tame effort at the near post during the 3-0 defeat to Manchester City. In the FA Cup loss to Everton, he palmed Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s effort into his own goal.

Despite the blunders, a former teammate of his has brushed off the criticism for Lloris.

“For me, he is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League,” stated Vorm, speaking to Stadium Astro.

“Everyone makes mistakes, Alisson, De Gea, Ederson all make mistakes.

“If you play for Tottenham and France for that long – it says it all. You need to look at the whole picture, yes he has made mistakes but how many saves has he made to win games? We’ve never won a prize, but it goes both ways.”
