Manchester City faced Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium this Saturday afternoon. We have the player ratings.

It was another perfect day for the Spurs as they not only kept another clean sheet but thrashed Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium. Mourinho’s Spurs had a decent start and could’ve opened the scoreline after Harry Kane shot a free-kick straight against the woodwork.

However, it didn’t take long for City to crush Tottenham’s hopes. Gundogan went down in the penalty box after an awkward challenge from Hojberg and Rodri beat Ederson in line to score against Hugo Lloris.

The Citizens absolutely dominated the first half and didn’t lose any steam as they entered the last 45 minutes. Sterling created chaos in Tottenham’s defense and flicked the ball onto Gundogan who easily continued his scoring-streak.

However, Manchester City were far from being done and the Spurs didn’t get any rest whatsoever. Ederson, who seemed annoyed for not taking the penalty himself, decided to bag his second assist of the season. The Brazilian goalkeeper once again showed his brilliant footwork and shot the ball across the field into Gundogan’s direction. The German midfielder left Sanchez glued to the floor with embarrassment and scored his ninth goal in 2021. In fact, Gundogan is now only two goals behind the highest goal-scoring midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

Tottenham looked somewhat lost on the pitch this Saturday afternoon. In fact, it didn’t seem like Mourinho knew how to cancel out Manchester City’s dominant style-of-play. However, the Spurs did manage to get a good chance to shorten the gap as Gareth Bale dribbled past three City players and forced Ederson to make a decent save.

The Citizens continued their 23-match unbeaten run and now have 16 wins in a row. Moreover, Pep Guardiola’s side have seven points over Leicester with one game in hand.
