The Blaugrana cut their deficit from the top of the table to five points after fighting back to produce a turnaround in Saturday’s outing.
Jordi Alba has admired his team’s fighting spirit following Barcelona’s come back from a goal down to beat Real Sociedad 2-1.
Not even half an hour had elapsed when Ronald Koeman’s men found themselves trailing at Camp Nou due to a Willian Jose goal.
The hosts, though, did not lose hope and continued to test the Sociedad defense. Just after the half-hour mark, their determination bore fruit as Jordi Alba equalized in style – curling the ball into the top corner.
Alba then helped Frenkie De Jong score his first goal of the season. The Dutchman tapped home from close range on the left-back’s deflected cross for the first-half winner.
De Jong’s strike was initially ruled out due to offside but a VAR check proved otherwise.
“It was the best game of the year,” Alba told Movistar after the full-time whistle at Camp Nou. “I’m really pleased with the team’s attitude and fight. The motivation was big and we keep climbing [the table].
“They changed their way of playing. We knew it would be a difficult game against one of the best teams in La Liga.
“I get more joy from giving assists. You score one in a hundred from those types of shots. I was lucky.
“We scored soon after they got their goal and the team played a great game. We saw a great Barca, who fought for every ball.”
